The establishment of Chinese Society for Scar Medicine & its first annual conference kicked off in Changsha

The establishment of Chinese Society for Scar Medicine (CSSM) and its first annual conference kicked off in Changsha on December 12, 2015. More than 1000 doctors, scholars and representative exhibitors from all over the world attended the conference. Professor Yixin Zhang from Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital and also the editor of Burns & Trauma, was elected as President of the Chinese Society for Scar Medicine and Prof. Jun Tan from Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital was elected as President-elect. Prof. Jun Wu, the Editor-in-Chief of Burns & Trauma and Dr. Guang-Ping Liang, the Managing Editor of the journal, were invited to attend the conference.

During the two-day conference, 97 full and delightful academic reports were given, showing the latest developments in traditional scar treatment methods like skin expansion and transplantation, and new techniques for scar treatment like laser, medication injection and stem cell transplantation. The safety insurance, risk aversion and early treatment of severe complications related to these new techniques were discussed in the meeting. Also, experts from USA, Korea and Taiwan presented the latest improvements within the global scar medicine and medical cosmetology industry.

During the meeting, Burns & Trauma was established as the official journal of CSSM and will provide an international academic platform for global communication and sharing China’s latest achievements in scar medicine to the world.
