The First World Congress of Global Scar Society Held in Shanghai

During October 25-28th 2018, the First World Congress of Global Scar Society (G-ScarS), organized by Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital and Chinese Scar Medicine Society, was successfully held in Shanghai, China. With more than 600 attendees from 18 countries and regions, the conference provided an international platform for the experts to exchange the most updated achievement in scar research and therapy, to discuss the challenges as well as the solution for scar treatment.

The Co-Presidents of this conference are Prof. Luc Téot from University of Montpellier France, Prof. Liu Wei and Prof. Zhang Yixin from Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital. The topics cover the latest progress in laser therapy, stem cell and regeneration, radiotherapy etc. for scar treatment and scar diagnosis. Moreover, the conference set Debate session to exchange views on issues with no consensus concerning three topics: “Early stage wound manipulation for scar prevention, a right strategy?”, “Surgery and post-surgical radiation, should it be the first line therapy for keloid” and “Laser therapy for keloid active stage hypertrophic scar, indication or anti-indication”; and Expert Round Table Discussion to explore the challenge in dermatological scar and other hot topics in scar treatment.

The 2nd World Congress of Global Scar Society will be held in Tokyo, Japan in 2020. Let’s look forward to this grand occasion and hope meet you in the 2020.
